Ron Deley and his wife Shirley Deley who run the depot are always upbeat people who go out of their way to help local volunteer groups by designating monthly, which volunteer group will receive the proceeds for donated bottles. Ron is a very personable individual who is always interested in what one is up to and takes the time to visit. He knows an incredible number of customers on a first name basis!

Eunice C. The Spirit River Depot are always friendly and greet you when you go in to deposit your bottles and cans. They have monthly organizations that they donate too such as minor hockey, scouts and guides Canada also lunches for the schools.

The manager is very efficient and always friendly -- and more importantly NEVER impatient -- cause I'm sure he gets the same dumb questions all the time about the worth of a certain product and how to sort it better before coming there. I did not have to open any of my bags that were all sealed with the same size and product in them -- he took care of that as well.

They will help to unload your vehicle if they're not busy, inform you of how to sort at home so it's a faster process once you get to the depot, which makes the trip there so much more smoother. They also do fundraising for community groups. I enjoy taking my recycling to Spirit River Depot, I have not had a bad experience there and don't expect to. Standing ovation to them!

Doreen W. The facilities are not great but they make the most of it. They keep the recycled items cleared away and make things as easy as possible for us, the ones that collect all this litter, and the plus side - is that we are even paid a small fee for making this system work.
Yvan B. Not only is it local to me, it is the friendly manner that the owners provide on a day to day basis. They provide a sense of community to everyone that arrives whether local or not.
Dallas L. We think that our depot should be applauded because over the past 20+ years it has been helping make the world a better and clean place. Without our bottle depot the town would be a mess with bottles and cans lying everywhere on the ground. Without our bottle depot animals would be in danger of swallowing and choking on left behind beverage containers. Our bottle depot has an organized way of sorting the bottles so that everything gets put in it's rightful place. The staff at the depot work hard long hours from 9:00am to 6:30pm making sure that our recyclable items are disposed of the right way. The depot is open to all customers and allows all recyclable beverage containers which is appreciated. All of the staff treat customers with kindness and respect. When you go in you feel welcomed almost as if the staff are family.And our depot decorates for the special occasions. :)

The spirit River Depot owners held a donation bottle drive and donated all funds to his recovery fund. This amazing act of kindness will always be appreciated.

Douglas G. Ron is a great businessman, each time you go he is helpful and the staff are also helpful to assist you in a stress free visit. Of course there are also the friendly, informative conversations that strike up while you are doing business. Many of the "Big City" depots are just the opposite, very rushed and a cold atmosphere. I would come a long, long way to access this bottle depot.
Andrew H. Great to have friend people there who help us unload the bottles and cans. The team shares funny stories while we unpack our recycling. There is also an incredible collection of all kinds of bottle around the wall - different shapes, designs and some truly old glass!
Diana R. They donate to 1 charity group per month. All the bottle brought in that month, the proceeds go toward that charity, ie Figure Skating club, the girl guides, etc. They are friendly and very helpful to the patron.

Kim M. Ron and his wife work all year round to bring us this service. They have always been helpful in explaining how to sort bottles and which ones they take and don't take. They trust us to count our own bottles and cheerfully give us our refund. They work in an old building that has definitely seen better days, even when the weather is bad or it is cold and snowing. they remember us even when we haven't seen them for six months between bottle returns. I appreciate the hard work they do for our community. I don't know who else would be willing to work so hard, and provide this kind of service. Thank-you so much!

Margaret Z. We believe in recycling and would love to applaud our locally operated bottle depot. If there wasn't a depot here, we would have to take our recyclable containers to the nearest city which is about an hour away. The local depot also provides an opportunity for local charities, schools and youth/sport clubs to raise funds, developing community service and environmental awareness. Its a win-win all around.
Gail W. Our depot is great. They help with different groups in our community. They give bottle money that people have donated to different groups every month or so. The money stays in the community to help benefit our community.
Diane B. The people who run the depot are amazing. There was a fundraiser for a local youth earlier this year and the owners spent many hours sorting and counting for this worthy cause. Yesterday when I took my containers the site was in disarray as they are in the process of putting up a storage building where we normally unload. I waited about 5 minutes and was told to back into the dock where the owner unloaded my glass, sorted and counted them while I unloaded the already sorted stuff. I was in and out of there within 10 minutes. This depot is very efficient and helpful. the boxes for the containers are always right at your fingertips.
Garett C. Employees were friendly and ready to drop everything to help. I was accustomed to bringing bottles to larger city center depots and using a small town depot was an enjoyable experience. The lead worker was very helpful, helping me count and sort my recyclables, insisting I use the water taps to wash my hands afterwards and supplying me with towels to dry my hands afterwards. Following the transaction, we had a lengthy discussion about many topics and I had a great time. I never knew I could meet a new friend by just returning my recyclables!

Miranda W. I have been returning my recyclables here for years and I love that the owners, no matter how busy they are, take the time to chat with you about how your day has gone. They treat all of their customers like family and are never hesitate to answer any questions a person might have. I had the opportunity to help out at this depot for a few months in 2013 and it was an awesome experience and the owners made me feel comfortable and 'right at home'. Shirlee and Ron are absolutely amazing people and so is their depot!

The depot in this town is not a new depot by any means but the depot and the people that run it go out of their way to stay open longer and help anybody and everybody keep their empty bottles out of the ditches and into the recycling program of Alberta. The people that run Spirit River bottle depot are always friendly and ready to help. I know recycling dirty bottles is a thankless job but you wouldn't know it if you went to the Spirit River bottle depot.

Helen K. Owning a bottle depot is lot of hard work. The area is always clean and well organized. There is always fund raising going on for the community, school grad, etc. Stopping there has always been a pleasant experience and I always leave with a smile.

They should be applauded for support they give the community as there is a good portion of containers that are donated and each month the depot has a group or school that the money is given to. The depot also have students that come and help sort the containers to the huge bags that the containers are transported in. The couple that run the depot are on a first name basis and help who need help.
Melissa C. Shirley delay is an incredible woman who balances family life and work at the bottle depot very well. She's friendly and incredibly great at what she does. How she does her job is superb and she moves fast she's very reliable I am truly amazed at how remarkable her depot is and what she does for it how many hours she puts into it and such a hard worker she is.
